Overview
Rainwater harvesting has the potential to save a large volume of mains water and reduce pressure on resources. Water that would otherwise be lost can be used instead to flush toilets, water gardens and feed washing machines.
The systems substantially reduce consumption of potable water by using the roof (and only the roof) as a collector of rainwater. This water is stored underground and can be used for the garden hose supply, flushing toilets and washing machines.
As the population grows and water reserves decline, the need for rainwater harvesting systems becomes evermore important, as these systems replace water usage in a safe and convenient way.
Benefits
- Average households can expect to save up to 50% of their water consumption by installing rain water harvesting system.
- Systems come in various forms including, direct feed to house, high water table system and a developer pack system. This variation allows for systems to be incorporated into many locations
- Reduces water bills
- Reduces the impact on the environment
- Complies with the Code For Sustainable Homes and counts towards 9% of the overall target.
Course Overview
The one day rainwater harvesting training and assessment course held at Greenworks Academy provides information on; selecting the most appropriate systems, maintenance and servicing of the rainwater harvesting system.
The course offers training and advice from a nationally recognised supplier of rainwater harvesting systems and a qualification from BPEC is available on request.
