The Greenworks Academy offers a multi-purpose training space with products and solutions in real-life settings. Demonstration areas include; room sets for wet and dry work, a dedicated low level roofing rig, training set for commissioning of solar thermal and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, an elevated drainage pit and rainwater harvesting system. The facility has three training rooms all with full IT and internet access.
The layout of the comprehensive 15000sq ft Academy has been specifically designed to offer a practical solution lead approach to installations. Courses at Greenworks can incorporate real working drawings and estimating where appropriate. The open plan space allows a total of 60 delegates to be trained at the same time.
Courses at Greenworks Training Academy are scheduled in-line with customer demand and changes to legislation, product and market drivers, and are carried out by specialist training companies and manufacturers. Based in Birmingham, the Academy is easily accessible to ensure customers can receive training on the latest technology quickly and effectively as soon as it reaches the market place.
Courses currently available at the Greenworks Training Academy include:
- Introductory courses in solar thermal, solar PV, Heat pumps , Rainwater harvesting, Underfloor heating and External wall insulation.
- City & Guilds qualification courses in Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Heat Pumps, Unvented Hot Water systems, Heat Pump Installer training, Domestic Developers Compliance and Domestic Solar Hot Water Installer Training.
- Solar Photovotaic Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
- Assessor Courses in the Code for Sustainable Homes, Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) Training and Certification (Existing dwellings), On Construction Energy Assessor (OCEA) Training and Certification (Newly constructed Dwellings) and Non-Domestic Energy Assessment (NDEA) Training and Certification.

Greenworks Learning Gateway
To complement the practical and hands on training at the Greenworks Academy, the new Greenworks Learning Gateway provides an opportunity for Jewson customers to access e-learning modules on a range of sustainable products and solutions, renewable technologies, market drivers and legislation updates. This service offers another valuable means of education and training for the marketplace.
With a whole host of online tutorials the E-Learning Gateway enables you to access a range of modules relating to this ever changing sustainable market. Through a series of well explained, simple to understand tutorials, each focusing on bit sized chunks such as insulation, timber, building fabric solutions, renewable technology and more, it will enable you to get your head around sustainable building.
This free service will help you understand new legislation, create new market opportunities and help you sell to your customers. Most courses only take 40 minutes 40 minutes to an hour to complete and are spoken to you via your computer - avoiding endless on-screen reading. There are over 70 hours of free tutorials with more being added all the time.
This service will also be available to Gibbs & Dandy, Ashworth, Minster and Graham customers through their websites from summer 2011.
